Easter! Seems like a year ago already with TT looming. In this business you need to think about the next festival minimum 6 months in advance. That being said, this idea was formulated in early January, and came together just in time for the Easter celebration.
We're lucky on the Isle of Man. If Karl Berrie had his operation anywhere but here, he might have been impossible to contact. As it happens, I know him through various channels (and maybe the odd cold drink) so a collaboration was joyfully easy to engineer. Karl is absolutely at the top of his game, and one of the most talented confectioners I have ever met, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to work with him. I ran a special bottling of our miniature gin bottles, which I sealed with wax. These were then delivered to Karl for encasement within his delicious 64% grand cru chocolate eggs. His skill is such that, even with a heavy, angled item within them, the eggs did not crack!
The packaging was kept simple and elegant, black and gold ribbon closing the box. We made 40 eggs, in total, which were sold within 72 hours! One may have been dropped, though, so at least I got to try the chocolate!
